The songs in “ALL NEW” began in weekly co-writing sessions on ZOOM with Tom and Cathy when the COVID pandemic first kept folks at home. Each week’s session resulted in a new song. They began with a goal of writing “community songs”, but were willing to follow whatever muse showed up at each session. The results include love songs, comedy, history, social justice and great storytelling. The styles range from folk to bluegrass to swing to round-singing and even a Celtic song. More than two years into the pandemic, they decided to record twenty-eight of the songs, which happened in January 2022, both in live concert and in studio. Marcy’s wide ranging instrumental virtuosity and arrangement ideas brought out the best of all of the songs, recorded by good friends.
